Join Est for her first EVER origami retreat, giving you the chance to truly FOLD the paper & FEEL the calm. Est's workshops are hugely popular & along with a very special guest, you'll be feeling refreshed after this creative retreat.

WHAT TO EXPECT

During the retreat we will be taking time to slow down from the hustle & bustle of life, giving time to unwind. Using origami as our main focus, we will begin with a cherry blossom flowerball, which uses repeated folds with 30 squares of paper, which then all come together with no glue, pure folds, to create a gorgeous sculptural piece. This project is a great way to begin taking deep breaths in and breathing out the busy nature of the week we may have just had.

We will then take time to be creative with Deb, who will guide us in mark making & writing. This will be another brilliant way to unwind but also to give us the freedom to maybe use our mark making & words within our prospective origami projects.

Following this Est will then guide us in a "free flowing" project. The outcome for this will not be prescriptive but Est will be on hand to help facilitate what you envisage creating. It might be a clock, a lampshade, wall art, we can tailor the project to how you individually feel inspired. You may well come away with a totally new creation, completely unique to you - how exciting?!

Est & Deb will provide you with a whole array of papers, materials & creative tools to facilitate these sessions, and to enable as much freedom of creativity as possible. Each day will begin at 9.30am and end at 5pm allowing plenty of time and space to get creative.

WHERE

The retreat will be at the incredibly gorgeous EverWild Studio in Nottingham. Tarnya has created a space specifically with the intention to cultivate creativity and so this feels like the absolute perfect fit for us to relax, unwind & fold. The space is decorated beautifully, has amazing high ceilings & loads of natural light, I'm so excited about it. (do follow Tarnya's insta account [@_everwild] for lots of lovely reels showing more of what the space is like!)

The studio is situated in Sneinton Market which is a brilliant area full of wonderful independent shops, eateries & creatives and located not far from Nottingham city centre.

If you need any help finding over night accomodation do let me know. A private facebook group of people coming to the retreat will be created this will enable you to connect with others before the retreat but also a great way to share tips on accomodation.

FOOD

We will be making full use of local caterers from the Sneinton Market community to keep us well fed. You will be given breakfast upon arrival, snacks throughout the day, a light lunch & plenty of teas, coffees & soft drinks. If you have any dietary requirements please do let me know as soon as you book. You will be able to select your lunch from a delicious menu of food, nearer the time.

WHO

The retreat is being hosted by Est & Deb.

Est is probably who you are most familiar with - origami enthusiast and passionate tutor! Est will enjoy getting to know you just as much as sharing with you her expertise and origami knowledge. She's been running Origami Est for 10+ years now and loves to share the joy of paper folding with everyone she meets. Est also has a young family and 2 walking toupees (peruvian guinea pigs!)

Deb Fielding is a writer & story artist. She has a huge passion for creating space for people to rest. Deb specialises in poems and short stories and is incredibly gifted at giving others a voice to write as well. She is based in Milton Keynes and splits her time between playing with her nieces and nephews and playing with paint in her studio.
